The 100kW Torrisdale hydro was completed in October 2015 on the Lephincorrach burn at Torrisdale Castle, Kintyre, Argyll. The scheme consists of a single intake with a 1,100m 355mm HDPE penstock feeding a twin jet Hydrohrom turbine.
Mór hydro under took the project management of the scheme with Search Hydro Ltd detailing the civil engineering structures. Construction commenced in March 2015 with a target OFGEM date in November 2015. The project successfully commissioned in October 2015 and has been operating very reliably since.
The project has the ability to provide power to the neighbouring Lephincorrach farm and to Torrisdale Castle and this upgrade is planned for 2016.
